Nood Co’s Box Basin: The Perfect Fit for Carter Williamson Architects' Award-Nominated Design

When the realms of architectural design and expert craftsmanship collide, the result is nothing short of extraordinary. Such is the case with Rosso Verde, an exceptional residential space conceptualised by Carter Williamson Architects, featuring our own Box Basin in Clay. Housed in a transformed warehouse in Sydney, the project has caught the attention of design enthusiasts globally, as evidenced by its numerous award nominations.

A Radical Approach to Space and Design

In a neighbourhood where square footage is a luxury, Rosso Verde pivots from the notion that bigger is better. A testament to quality over quantity, the design exposes an interesting spatial philosophy. A central courtyard bathed in natural light breathes life into the home, a bold move achieved by removing nearly a third of the existing roof. This unorthodox design decision has created a series of spaces with a unique identity, earning the project nominations for IDEA Awards in both the Colour and Residential Single categories, among several others.

Sensational Spatial Sensibilities

The Local Project captures the essence of Rosso Verde in their comprehensive article, emphasising Carter Williamson Architects’s mastery in spatial design. Visitors stepping into the residence are met with a captivating curved opening in the ceiling that expands the perception of space. This design element serves as both a functional and aesthetic masterpiece, enhancing the home's verticality and connecting the various levels seamlessly. It is as though the house itself is a breathing entity, generous and inviting.

An Ideal Match: Nood Co’s Box Basin in Clay

The Box Basin in Clay from Nood Co integrates flawlessly into this spatial narrative. Designed with the same minimalist ethos and attention to materiality that Rosso Verde celebrates, it fits naturally into the overall design scheme. The basin's deep red tones mirror the rich, vibrant hues in the home, like the Breccia Rosso marble benchtops and the bark-coloured external steel windows inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s ‘Cherokee Red’.

A Changing Perspective on Home and Space

Perhaps what sets Rosso Verde apart is its ability to transcend conventional expectations of a 'forever home.' As Senior Design Associate Julie Niass recalls, the transformed space shifted the homeowners’ perception of their future, especially given the elegant incorporation of a garden in an otherwise dense urban environment.

A Future-Proof, Award-Nominated Design

Rosso Verde has been shortlisted for multiple awards, including the World Festival of Interiors and the Australian Interior Design Awards, signifying its excellence in residential design. Landscape designer Naomi Barin of Dangar Barin Smith masterfully integrated natural elements like mature kentia palms, contributing to the home’s dynamic aura.
