Frequently Asked Questions

Colour & Finish
-
How many colours does Nood Co offer?
We have 21 colours to choose from - and all Nood Co products can be purchased in any of the colours that we offer.
Nood has developed a manufacturing process that ensures a volume order will have an unbeatable consistency in colour and patina. That said, concrete is a natural material so some patina, colour variation, pin-holing (surface holes) and surface variation is inevitable. These characteristics have no bearing on the structural integrity of the concrete piece.
Nood Co Concrete colours, feel, and aesthetic can look different in photos and we recommend that you purchase a sample pack prior to making your purchase.
-
What kind of finish can I expect from Nood Co?
Our concrete mix yields a predominantly smooth finish. Pinholes are natural and can occasionally appear as concrete is a natural product after all, however these do not affect the structural integrity of your concrete bath or basin.
The overall appearance and patina of your basin or bath will remain largely uniform.
We do this for a few reasons:
- Our goal is to feature concrete products that are complementary to the other elements of the bathroom. By reducing the patina, our piece doesn’t distract from other elements, but more complements the tiles, tapware, the lighting or the mirror.
- Continuity. By reducing the patina, we are able to create batches of products that match perfectly, allowing larger projects to visually succeed. In the case of two basins sitting next to each other, it ensures a visual continuity.
- To allow the design to speak. Nood Co is about duality. It is critical that the design has room to breathe and be enjoyed, by removing some of the boldness, rawness, masculinity of the concrete patina, the Nood Co piece takes on a stunning visual experience. One of hard versus soft, masculine versus feminine.
-
I’m after a raw and organic concrete look, do you offer that?
If you’re after a raw finish, we recommend checking out our Millie Raw basin or our Conscious Range. Make sure to sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know about any plans we may have in releasing more raw or organic products in the future.
-
Do you offer custom colours?
We can offer custom colours on a case by case basis to our Architects and Designers. If you want to learn more please email trade@noodco.com.au
-
Will my Nood Co bath or basin be the same colour inside and out?
Yes! Nood products have solid colour distribution meaning that they are the same colour throughout their entire structure.
This means that even if the surface undergoes wear or suffers chips, the underlying colour remains consistent inside and out. While we’ve achieved remarkable consistency in our concrete products, minor variations such as pinholes and batch differences are a natural and beautiful characteristic of the natural material and do not void the warranty.Whilst our basins are incredibly strong, accidents can happen which is why we’ve developed our Concrete Repair Kits to keep your bath and basin looking its best. To purchase a repair kit, please contact our team at info@noodco.com.au.

Sustainability
-
Where are your products manufactured?
Nood Co baths and basins are designed and manufactured in Perth, Australia. Every basin is meticulously hand-poured, reflecting our commitment to quality and ethical manufacturing.
Six out of seven of the materials that are essential to our production process are sourced from Australia. Being manufactured and assembled locally, Nood Co products not only champion Australian quality but also significantly reduce transport emissions and provide jobs for the local community.
-
How is Nood Co sustainable?
From prototyping through to delivery, each step in the manufacturing process has been modified with a sustainable view. Over 85% of Nood Co’s concrete composition and packaging material is sourced from within Australia, including the finest sand grades and natural admixes, right through to recycled cardboard packaging.

-
How much embodied energy is used to make a Nood Co bath or basin?
Nood Co has created a unique blend of ultra high performance concrete that uses around 96% less energy than that to create its ceramic equal. A groundbreaking statistic.
Nood Co manufacturing involves the use of multiple silicon moulds and a handmade process. Machinery-aided manufacture has been avoided to ensure an extremely low embodied energy and pollution emission rate, whilst not compromising on efficiency and production output.
-
How do you manage waste and recycling?
Nood Co takes sustainability seriously, boasting a remarkable 95% pass-through rate for its concrete products. Our commitment to the environment ensures that less than 5% of waste is produced, with the remainder being fully recycled through a closed-loop system at a local facility. Not only are our products made from recycled materials, but they can also be fully recycled at the end of their lifespan, offering clients an eco-friendly disposal option if necessary.
-
Are your products low VOC?
Yes. All our products are crafted using a concrete mix with low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) levels, ensuring minimal environmental impact and improved indoor air quality. The sealing process involves a food-safe, UV-stable sealer with an exceptionally low VOC content, enhancing the product's longevity and safety.

Product Features & Sealing
-
How strong is your concrete?
Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC). Our UHPC blend not only boasts a significantly increased MPA (Megapascal) value, ensuring it can withstand higher loads and stresses than conventional concrete mixes, but it’s also built to resist a variety of environmental conditions.
This dual advantage makes our concrete an ideal choice for projects requiring superior strength, longevity, and reduced maintenance.
-
Why are Nood Co products so lightweight?
Good engineering (yes, it is real concrete!). Years of dedicated research and development have culminated in our concrete products being among the lightest available in the market today. Despite their enhanced strength, our blends are crafted to weigh less than traditional concrete. This not only streamlines transportation and handling but also makes for easy installation.
Nood Co products weigh around 30% less than their ceramic equivalents.
-
How are Nood Co products sealed?
Our products stand out in the market with an integrated sealant, a feature that sets us apart from the standard surface seal found in other concrete products. By incorporating the sealant directly into our mix, we ensure a consistent and even distribution throughout the entire product. This, combined with our unique blend of several admixes, allows Nood to achieve unparalleled water resistance.
The integrated nature of our sealant offers long-lasting protection and means that Nood baths and basins will not peel or delaminate, eliminating the need for future resealing and resulting in a maintenance free experience.
We’ve done the hard work, so you don’t have to.
-
Does my Nood Co bath or basin require sealing or re-sealing?
No. Unlike a standard surface seal which is found in other concrete products, Nood Co incorporates the sealant directly into our concrete mix. This achieves unparalleled water resistance, and offers long-lasting protection.
Nood baths and basins will not peel or delaminate, eliminating the need for future resealing and resulting in a maintenance free experience.

Is Juno the same as Concrete Nation's Oasis tub?
Nood Co purchased the Oasis tub mould when Concrete Nation shut down. We have since reworked and re-engineered the design to meet our stringent manufacturing standards and successfully passed rigorous testing.
While we had initially planned to launch Juno earlier, we took some extra time to fine-tune her design to ensure perfection. Our dedicated design team has revitalised and enhanced this already beautiful design using our trusted concrete mix, making her even more robust and durable.

- Use a soft brush (eg. an old soft toothbrush) to reach the hard-to-get-to places.
- Rinse with clean water and towel dry.
- Clean your bath or basin regularly (ideally weekly) to avoid product build up.
Caution
- Do not use chemical or abrasive cleaners such as ammonia or bleach.

Concrete Nation Closure
-
What happened to Concrete Nation?
The Concrete Nation business (operated by Lett Investments Australia Pty Ltd) was placed into liquidation on 30th November 2022. Please note Nood Co has no association with the Concrete Nation business or its directors. For all enquiries related to existing issues with Concrete Nation please contact Matthew Bookless of SV Partners at concretenation@svp.com.au
-
How is this relevant to Nood Co?
Nood Co purchased the Concrete Nation Instagram account, as well as a selection of product moulds which we have re-engineered with our Ultra High Performance Concrete.
Nood Co has not purchased the Concrete Nation company and does not have any legal liability nor resulting capacity to address any associated issues with what you may have experienced with the closure of Concrete nation, be them fiscal or functional. We are unable to offer directions to attain further clarity on your situation.
For all enquiries related to existing issues with Concrete Nation please contact Matthew Bookless of SV Partners at concretenation@svp.com.au
-
Will Concrete Nation products be available through Nood Co?
We have re-developed and re-engineered a few products from the Concrete Nation range including:
- Amalfi Basin (now Millie by Nood Co)
- Malta Basin (now Millie Raw by Nood Co)
- Como Freestanding Basin (now Luna by Nood Co)
- Tropez Freestanding Basin (now Molli by Nood Co)
- Oasis Bathtub (now Juno by Nood Co)
Our team spent many months reworking the designs and specifications of the above products to ensure they meet our stringent manufacturing requirements. Please note that the product specifications have changed, so while the designs may look familiar, the products themselves are a more refined version of the original.
Please note that Concrete Nation product specifications and samples are no longer relevant to CN by Nood, please refer to the Nood Co product specifications before purchasing these products.
-
How are these products different from Concrete Nation?
Nood purchased the product moulds and designs from CN with the intention of reworking it and making it our own. With any concrete product, a mould is required to create it. Over the course of many months, we tested, reworked and re-engineered each design to meet our stringent manufacturing requirements. This included creating new product moulds.
The final designs look very similar to the original CN range, however we have made engineering adjustments to ensure these products stand the test of time.
The Nood Concrete mix is also very different from CN. Our mix yields a predominately smooth finish, with little to no patina. Our mix allows us to create a beautifully raw look (such as Millie Raw) without compromising the structural integrity of the basin.
Please note that Concrete Nation product specifications and samples are no longer relevant to CN by Nood, please refer to the Nood Co product specifications before purchasing these products.

Overflows, Tap Holes & Bottle Traps

Which basins have the option for an overflow, tap hole and/or bottle trap?
Our Shelf 01/02/03, Shelf Oval and Loop 01/02 basins all come with the option of an overflow and/or tap hole. Tapware is not provided with your basin purchase. Overflows are available in four finishes (Black, Brass, Chrome or White).
Bottle Traps are required for every wall hung basin and are visible. Please refer to your plumber, designer and/or architect for bottle trap recommendations. Nood Co does not provide bottle traps with your basin purchase.
-
What is an overflow?
A basin overflow is a small hole located near the rim of the basin. Its purpose is to drain away excess water if the basin begins to fill too much, preventing potential flooding in your bathroom. This feature is especially useful if you accidentally leave the tap running.
Our overflows are provided with a metal cover ring. You have the option to customise the look of your basin by selecting one of four finishes: Black, Brass, Chrome, or White.
-
What is a Bottle Trap?
Bottle Traps are a required plumbing fixture for all basins. With Surface Mount basins, the bottle trap is often hidden inside the vanity. With Wall Mount basins, a bottle trap is visible, which is why many clients choose to match their bottle trap to the rest of their fittings. Please note that our wall hung basins require a visible bottle trap. Nood Co does not supply bottle traps with your basin purchase.
-
What is a basin tap hole?
A Tap Hole is a small hole in the basin designed to accommodate a surface mount tap. We offer the option of a tap hole for clients who wish to mount their taps into their basin rather than onto the wall.
